Heather Harrington is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and Co-Director of the Centre for Topological Data Analysis. She is also affiliated with St John’s College, Oxford and the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.
My research focuses on the problem of reconciling models and data by extracting information about the structure of models and the shape of data. Most of the methods we develop rely on techniques from computational algebraic geometry and topology to study complex biological systems. I spent time at MPI MIS Leipzig in 2018 at TAGS (Linking Topology to Algebraic Geometry and Statistics) and in 2022 at the Workshop on Differential Algebra. I have really enjoyed stimulating discussions in Leipzig.
